Hunters should note that the proposed extension of
the one-day Permit Shotgun season for Deer Management
Zones 1, 3, 21, 23, 24, 43, 45, and 46 (Regulation
Set 2) will NOT take place. The proposal to extend
the season in case of prohibitively inclement weather
was rendered unnecessary, as mild temperatures and
intermittent rain did not prevent hunters from taking
to the field on December 13, 2006.
While deer permits purchased for some zones in 2006 remain valid until the end of the permit season, all hunters are required to now have 2007 hunting licenses. Licenses are available at agents ( http://www.wildlifelicense.com/nj/ ), or online IF your previous year's license or hunter education record is on file in the Integrated Electronic Licensing System (IELS). For information on licenses please see http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/hntlicfe.htm.
